Western Melbourne and Brimbank Melton residents join the NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme is officially welcomed to the Western Melbourne and Brimbank Melton areas.

The Brotherhood of St Laurence is a local Partner in the Community in the roll-out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in the North East Melbourne, Hume Moreland, Bayside Peninsula, Western Melbourne and Brimbank Melton areas.

Western Melbourne covers the local government areas of Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melbourne, Moonee Valley and Wyndham, while the Brimbank Melton region covers the Brimbank and Melton local government areas.

Local Area Coordination supports the implementation of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) at a local community level. In July 2016, the Brotherhood began delivering LAC and ECEI services in north-east Melbourne and in the Hume and Moreland LGAS, and Bayside Peninsula areas in March 2018.

The Brotherhood’s role in delivering Local Area Coordination has a focus on identifying, strengthening and connecting people with disability to community and government supports where appropriate.

The Brotherhood will continue its work to increase participation and amplify the voice of people with disability in the communities in which they live.
